The plum tree aphid takes only 4.7 days after its birth t produce its own offspring. Female aphids give birth to daughters who give birth to more daughters. One cabbage aphid can produce 1.6 million (an octillion has 27 zeroes) offspring in one season if all of them survive, but they hardly do so because of environmental factors.
